Building solar farms that serve nature and their communities
When you build a solar farm the right way, the local environment and community are well served. The only way to achieve these twin goals is to build, maintain, and operate our own solar farms throughout their entire lifecycle. It starts with choosing sites that allow us to have the least impact on the productivity of the land or disrupt wildlife.
Often, our sites are built on lands that are in some way already compromised or unusable like quarries or landfills. And, after 40 years when our farms may be decommissioned, we restore the land to a healthy habitat according to our contract. We never delegate our responsibilities to you, to your community, or to the natural environment.
Our Name and Symbolism
The Nautilus name stems from the USS Nautilus, the world’s first operational nuclear-powered submarine, reflecting our co-Founder Jim Rice’s background as a Navy Submarine Veteran. Similarly, our logo is inspired by the chambered nautilus shell, symbolizing grace, growth, expansion, and renewal – all key elements of our journey at Nautilus Solar Energy.
