Nautilus Solar Energy’s (“NSE”) Associate, Finance, will be responsible for the NSE’s project finance modeling needs.  Additionally, the employee will support financing activities, including originating and executing debt and tax equity project financing.  The position requires an individual who is energetic, hardworking and detail-oriented.  The ideal candidate is motivated, self-starter, possesses a commitment to excellence. The position is located in Summit, NJ. 

Job Description:

Due Diligence

  • Respond to the bank’s diligence requests and questions in a timely and organized manner
  • Ensure that the project datarooms are in correct format and contain all applicable information 
  • Coordinate with the project development, construction and legal teams to achieve the above 

Project Models

  • Ensure that the correct financing assumptions are included in the project models
  • Ensure that the project information is complete
  • Flag any material deviations to the management to identify early financing risks

Investor, Board and Lender relationship

  • Prepare bank and Board presentations for projects and portfolios on as needed basis
  • Responsible for maintaining relationships with and providing information to investors
  • Prepare financing marketing material and participate in company’s business development 

Financing

  • Participate in and provide support to all phases of construction financing, including diligence, meeting funding CPs, preparing draw packages, compliance requests, etc. 
  • Support financing efforts both at the corporate and project level, including debt financing analysis, tax and cash equity investor return review, and project financing terms development
  • Provide insightful financial analytics to support the company business plan and annual budget, using comparative analysis and review of trends
  • Support development, construction and asset management teams with financial and risk analysis

Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience (investment banking, clean tech, energy or related sectors); previous solar experience desirable
  • Robust financial modeling skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player with strong desire to participate in dynamic work environment 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Math/Econ/ Finance / Engineering or related preferred) 
  • Ability to work independently as required
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Nautilus Solar Energy’s (“NSE”) Structuring Manager will be responsible for supporting the acquisition and development of NSE’s solar portfolio. 

Responsibilities:

    • Manage acquisition and development activities including transaction negotiation, due diligence, execution of major project agreements, project modeling and budgeting 
    • Prepare detailed information memoranda describing the investment opportunity and project characteristics
    • Conduct comprehensive due diligence, highlighting potential risks and formulating mitigation strategies
    • Participate in cross-functional project teams and collaborate with multiple internal departments throughout the project lifecycle
    • Support project financing diligence efforts
    • Monitor designated market regulations and policies and perform market analysis

Requirements:

    • 5-8 years of relevant experience, preferably in the solar industry 
    • Demonstrated track record of being a key team member involved in the due diligence, negotiations of MW scale solar project acquisitions
    • Familiarity with terms and conditions and structuring of major solar project documentation including MIPAs, leases, interconnections, utility program requirements, PPA offtake or subscription agreements, etc.
    • Solid understanding and passion for the solar industry – familiarity with or proven track record in community solar, a strong plus
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrable ability to understand and communicate technical concepts
    • Excellent organizational abilities; able to focus on details while managing multiple projects
    • Able to excel in a highly entrepreneurial environment 
    • Bachelor’s degree required (engineering, math, econ or finance preferred)
    • Solid understanding of Excel based financial modeling

The Director of Project Engineering (DPE) is responsible for assisting NSE Structuring and Origination in securing solar projects including estimating, design coordination, risk mitigation and technical review (e.g. production, schedules, scope-of-work). 

Responsibilities:

  • Review engineering designs for accuracy and provide recommendations for performance/cost optimization.
  • Provide timely technical or other relevant project information necessary to meet internal processes or controls including developing summarized project EPC budget by reviewing and consolidating numbers from different sources. 
  • Initiating and coordinating the technical review process (including civil and electrical engineering, energy assessment, technology experts, permitting, as needed etc). 
  • Performing portions of the due diligence reviews, including technical impacts to the financial model (OPEX and CAPEX). 
  • Analyze information, and identify problem resolutions, recommend and implement corrective actions. 
  • Discussing and resolving technical issues with project developers and lenders/investors, including coordinating input on such issues with the NSE Structuring team as necessary. 
  • Developing and writing proposals for scopes of services related to due diligence work.  
  • As necessary, develop and negotiate sub-contractor, consultant or engineering agreements including safety plans, schedules and scope-of-work necessary to fulfill project requirements. 
  • Work closely with NSE Operations for coordinating inspections and interconnections with the customer, local jurisdiction, and the relevant utility. 
  • Supporting NSE internal teams through the financial closings of projects.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of solar engineering and/or development experience involving multiple MW+ scale solar installations 
  • Strong educational credentials including a Masters degree in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • Impeccable time-management skills are a must in order to handle multiple projects simultaneously including prioritizing, organizing and planning effectively to meet all deadlines. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and work well with cross-functional teams, including Origination, Structuring, Operations and Finance. 
  • Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a highly dynamic fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong computer skills and detailed knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Microsoft Project; PV Syst; other solar project management or engineering software.

Nautilus Solar Energy (NSE) Community Solar Onboarding Associate will be responsible for managing overall community solar subscriber operations and coordinate closely with Nautilus Solar Solutions (NSE’s asset management arm) on subscriber management efforts for our community solar portfolio.  This position reports to the Community Solar Director.
 
 PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Project/Subscriber Onboarding

  • Work closely with Community Solar Director on Customer setup and initiation after the Service Commencement Date
  • Assist Community Solar Director with various subscriber enrollment and verification tasks
  • Review and be familiar with various provider software platforms
    • Ensure all subscriber contracts and information are uploaded to platform prior to project commencement date
  • Support the Portfolio Management team on the set-up of bank accounts and project payment gateways prior to project commencement date 
  • Oversee the submittal of initial subscriber lists to Utility
  • Ensure providers have access to the solar project’s data acquisition system to track project’s solar production 
  • Review project’s subscriber contracts and terms
  • Review community solar provider agreements and understand terms and payment schedules

Subscriber Management

  • Manage the ongoing Subscriber Management process and providers
    • Act as the main point of contact for Community Solar partners and assist with onboarding requests as needed 
    • Lead regular calls with providers to track operational issues and drive answers when needed
    • Oversee customer communications to ensure all subscribers are properly educated and notified of project milestones and/or any changes to their allocations
    • Ensure monthly reports from Community Solar partners are delivered in a timely manner
  • Work with the Portfolio Management team to manage reviewing of monthly reports and track customer churn
    • Support the Portfolio Management team in reviewing monthly reports and ensuring revenue details are correct
    • Oversee tracking and redistributing of accrued credits from unallocated generation, as allowed by Utility tariffs and processes
  • Oversee and resolve issues related to new projects coming online 
  • Ensure software platforms are up to date with the most current subscriber contracts and information

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 4 year degree required

 Nautilus Solar Energy’s (NSE) Associate, Corporate Finance will be responsible for the Company’s financial modeling, analysis and reporting needs. Additionally, the position will support the Company’s corporate and portfolio financings. The position requires an individual who is energetic, hardworking and detail oriented.  RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Revise, update, expand and maintain Company’s corporate financial model 
  • Prepare annual and 5-year budgets 
  • Work with all functional groups to accurately forecast project liquidity requirements 
  • Prepare variance reports for the Company’s management and Board, including using comparative analysis and review of trends/prior year results 
  • Develop, measure and report financial performance KPIs 
  • Assist in corporate and portfolio financings, including:
    > Dataroom management

    CIM and other investor management preparation
