POSITION SUMMARY:

Senior Accountant position is open for an energetic, organized accountant with aptitude to work in a renewable energy company in a highly entrepreneurial environment. The position of Senior Accountant will involve a multitude of accounting and financial responsibilities in all areas of corporate accounting financial reporting, including general ledger and financial statement preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation, budget activities and compliance with the wide range of financial reporting requirements. The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and will interact effectively with all levels throughout Company organization. The position is located in Summit, NJ.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Complete and maintain process documentation and ensure SOX 404 compliance (when applicable).
  • Research, propose and help implement proper accounting procedures and policies in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist with general ledger processing; prepare and enter month end and other required journal entries.
  • Assist with preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial statements and budgets.
  • Prepare work papers and various reports for internal accounting and auditing.
  • Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up of significant variances.
  • Assist and liaise with Business Operations Manager for year-end budgeting functions.
  • Assist with annual external audit and other examinations. Complete requested materials. Assist in preparing assigned schedules for the annual audit.
  • Assist with implementation and optimization of new accounting software.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to maximize efficiency.
  • Contribute to the Company’s special projects as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 4-year degree in Accounting required.
  • 5 plus years of experience in accounting field, public accounting strongly preferred.
  • Background in the power industry strongly preferred.
  • Experience deploying and implementing accounting platforms (including integration with ERP systems) strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with intercompany transactions, consolidations, consolidated reporting
  • Strong Excel, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interface with different levels and functions of the organization as well as external auditors.
  • Ability to undertake complex tasks.
  • Project oriented with a goal to complete assignments on time.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.

  • Prepare work papers and various reports for internal accounting and auditing.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly management reports and accompanying schedules, worksheets and narratives, including “Budget vs. Actual” variance reports. Assist in providing follow-up of significant variances.
  • Assist with annual external audit and other examinations. Complete requested materials. Assist in preparing assigned schedules for the annual audit.
  • Review and approve expense reports via Expensify to ensure adherence to corporate policies and procedures.

ABOUT NAUTILUS SOLAR ENERGY, LLC

Nautilus Solar Energy’s (NSE) Portfolio Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the ongoing operations of NSE’s generating portfolio and supporting operations of NSE’s solar installations. This position reports to the Director, Portfolio Operations.Using web-based monitoring tools, the Portfolio Operations Manager will ensure that the operating portfolio is performing optimally.  The Portfolio Operations Manager will also be responsible for supporting the development and construction of new solar generating assets. Travel typically less than 25%.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Operations

  • Monitor all NSE solar power plants daily, comparing output to expected, logging all alerts, and dispatching O&M partners.
  • Work closely with NSE’s monitoring and O&M partners to continuously improve our capabilities and response time.
  • Coordinate and track all required repairs.
  • Prepare all Compliance Reports for NSE management and Financing Partners.
  • Help develop new requirements, specifications, best practices and tools.

Maintenance

  • Manage Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Agreements for NSE’s generating portfolio.
  • Oversee monthly/quarterly/annual O&M activities, as required.
  • Develop tools, procedures and business relationships to help decrease NSE maintenance costs over time.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable warranties.
  • Maintain the O&M log.

Project Development and Management

  • Interface with the Development and Structuring team during the pre-construction phase to support the analysis of new assets.
  • Interface closely with the Project Operations team during construction phase to support technical onboarding and project transition to the Portfolio Operations team at energization.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-year degree required, Technical degree highly preferred
  • Strong Excel, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interface with different levels and functions of the organization as well as with external parties such as banks, lawyers, customers and contractors
