A Shared Mission: Making Energy More Accessible
Nautilus’ work in community solar is centered around energy equity. Community solar gives renters, homeowners, and others who may not be able to install rooftop solar a way to participate in renewable energy and save on their electricity bills. Let’s Share The Sun takes that same idea of expanding energy access and applies it to people around the world.
The organization provides clean, renewable energy to communities in countries including Haiti and Honduras, as well as Puerto Rico. Its solar projects power homes with medical needs, health clinics, domestic violence shelters, and schools. To date, Let’s Share The Sun has installed more than 300 kW of solar power and worked with more than 1,000 beneficiaries.
Why Energy Equity Matters
Reliable electricity can be easy to take for granted—until you don't have it. For a health clinic, dependable power can mean keeping essential equipment running. For a school, it can mean creating a more reliable place to learn. For families with medical needs, access to electricity can be critical.
That is what makes Let’s Share The Sun’s work so meaningful to Nautilus. While the work may look different from what we do through community solar, the underlying goal is the same: expanding access to the benefits of clean energy.
A Maryland Connection
The tournament also had a special connection to Nautilus because it took place in Maryland, one of the states where we operate. Supporting an event in Davidsonville gave the team a chance to give back in a community that has been an important part of Nautilus’ work.
The event also strengthened our relationship with New Energy Equity, the company which founded the Lift As We Climb Foundation. We have enjoyed building a strong partnership with the New Energy Equity team, and supporting an event that brings the solar industry together for a great cause was a natural fit. As part of our sponsorship, Nautilus also brought a foursome to the course for a day of golf, networking, and friendly competition.
Why We Showed Up to Play
“Combining my passion for golf with a cause that supports the transition to a more sustainable future has made this event particularly meaningful,” said Jeffrey Cheng, CEO of Nautilus. “Expanding access to clean energy is central to what we do at Nautilus, and we’re proud to support an organization that contributes to a broader effort to advance equitable access to clean energy worldwide.”
And that is what made Lift As We Climb stand out. It was a fun day on the course, but the impact extended far beyond the fairways.
Why We'll Keep Showing Up
At Nautilus, we believe the clean energy transition should include everyone. Whether that means helping a renter participate in community solar or supporting a clinic that needs reliable electricity, expanding access to clean energy can make a real difference.
We were proud to support Let’s Share The Sun and its work bringing renewable energy to places where reliable power can make a lasting impact, and grateful to New Energy Equity for bringing the solar community together for another successful Lift As We Climb tournament.
We came for the golf. We stayed for the mission.
