April is Earth Month! 10 Small Things with Big Environmental Impact

April is Earth Month! It’s a time of the year to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage people to take action to protect the planet. But helping the planet doesn’t need to be complicated. Just like switching to community solar, it doesn’t take much to do your part and make a big impact on the environment. Here are some more ideas:

  1. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: This means using less, reusing what we can, and recycling what we can't. By doing this, we can reduce the amount of waste we produce.
  2. Save Water: Water is a precious resource, so we need to use it wisely. Turn off the faucet when you're brushing your teeth, take shorter showers, and fix leaky spouts.
  3. Save Energy: We can save energy by turning off lights and electronics when we're not using them. Also, by using energy-efficient light bulbs, and unplugging chargers when they're not in use will save even more energy.
  4. Use Public Transportation or Carpool: Cars pollute the air, but we can reduce our carbon footprint by taking the bus, train, bike, or carpooling with friends and family.
  5. Choose Eco-Friendly Products: Look for products and packaging that are made from sustainable materials.
  6. Eat More Plants and Less Meat: The meat industry uses a lot of resources and produces a large amount of greenhouse gases. Try eating less meat and more vegetables and fruits.
  7. Use Reusable Bags and Containers: Single-use plastics are bad for the environment, but we can reduce our plastic waste by using reusable bags and containers. Keep them in a handy location so they are always at the ready.
  8. Plant Trees: Trees are important for cleaning the air and providing a habitat for animals. Planting trees in your community can make a big difference.
  9. Avoid Using Pesticides and Herbicides: These chemicals can be harmful to the environment and to human health. Try natural methods by using ingredients right in your pantry to control pests and weeds.
  10. Support Renewable Energy: Renewable energy sources like solar and wind power are clean and sustainable. Supporting them can help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. As a subscriber to Nautilus Community Solar, you can cross this one off your list! Congratulations.

These are just a few examples of small things we can all do to make a big environmental impact. Remember, even small actions can make a difference. By all of us doing our part to protect the environment, we can help ensure that the Earth remains a healthy and beautiful place for generations to come. At Nautilus, every day is Earth Day!
