20+MW of Community Solar to Reach Commercial Operation During September

CHICAGO, IL. — September 8, 2026 — Nautilus Solar Energy (“Nautilus”), one of the largest community solar businesses in the U.S., today announced commercial operation of another 6.7 megawatt (MW) community solar project in Illinois. Located in the Village of Cornell and within the ComEd utility territory, this site is now delivering locally generated renewable energy and attacking consumer energy affordability within local communities by directly providing electricity savings to 570 more Illinois customers.

“We've stated before that Illinois is a key market for Nautilus, and energizing these community solar projects re-emphasizes our commitment to provide immediate relief to the high energy costs directly affecting local communities,” said Daniela Pangallo, Senior Director, Partner Development, Nautilus Solar Energy. At a time when consumers and business alike are facing the highest energy costs experienced over a generation, community solar is part of Governor Pritzker's comprehensive and effective strategy to make energy more affordable and reliable for Illinois working families. “We’re proud that our projects are delivering electric bill savings to customers and helping them through this affordability crisis,” added Pangallo.

Nautilus expects three additional Illinois projects, representing another 13 MW, to reach commercial operation during September alone. Together, all four of these projects will bring approximately 20 MW of additional renewable energy capacity online and will provide further immediate energy savings to more than 1500+ additional customers.

The company’s announcement reiterates Nautilus’s broader goals to energize over 100MW more in Illinois by the end of 2027. “With supporting legislation, Illinois is well-positioned for continued growth in community solar and we look forward to expanding our statewide presence while also exploring opportunities in neighboring markets as policies develop,” said Pangallo.

The Nautilus team will be attending RE+ Midwest on September 9-10 in Schaumburg, IL. Please email partner@nautilussolar.com to arrange a meeting with the team.
