Tax Equity and Capital Markets Director

The Position:

As Nautilus Solar Energy continues its expansion in the market, we are looking for an experienced professional with an ability to source, execute and close a variety of capital markets transactions, primarily tax-motivated equity investments in the solar sector. The ideal candidate can manage a fundraising process and effectively communicate with institutional and corporate investors on an ongoing basis. The Capital Markets Director will assist Nautilus’s Partners in the development and fostering of important investor relations and will originate investments for the Company’s growing solar project asset base as well as corporate expansion. The Capital Markets Director will also be responsible for ongoing investor communications, working with the Finance department to provide regular portfolio updates and financial reporting, and planning investor events. These activities may require the creation or updating of marketing materials, and attendance at firm-hosted and third-party events. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create a strategy and execute action plan to directly source tax-motivated investments from institutional and corporate investors, as well as high net worth individuals, if applicable
  • Lead investor outreach and fundraising efforts nationally/globally.
  • Manage investor data requests and ongoing data content.
  • Track firm activities and draft quarterly updates for investors.
  • Manage CRM software.
  • Oversee and coordinate investor related events.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with high profile individuals, institutions and family offices.
  • Develop and maintain marketing and fundraising materials to present to prospective investors.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in an origination role, with significant institutional capital raising experience.  Experience with Tax Credits (LIHTC, New Markets Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits, etc.) and/or Renewable Energy Tax Equity required.
  • Experience at an asset management firm (i.e. private equity, venture capital, hedge fund, etc.)
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable speaking to high profile individuals and institutions.
  • Must use discretion working with confidential and sensitive information regarding the company, executive management, and investors.
  • Self-starter with strong project management and follow-through skills.

Key Competencies:

The ideal candidate should have prior experience and a successful track record of raising assets from institutional and accredited investors such as, RIA’s, banks, pension funds and gatekeepers as well as wealth managers and family offices. We prefer your background to be on the buy-side having worked for a traditional asset manager, hedge fund and private equity firm or placement agent. Will also consider other relevant backgrounds.

  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business relationships necessary for sourcing investment opportunities.
  • Ability to interpret data and provide relevant conclusions/recommendations.
  • Awareness of the market.
  • A track record that demonstrates exceptional persistence, resourcefulness, and leadership in previous endeavors; self-starter, able to initiate projects and work independently.
  • Possesses organization skills and composure: ability to handle competing priorities and to work effectively in a challenging fast paced environment.
  • Proven network and rolodex of relationships with investors.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter and strategic thinker with a track record of working from a blank slate in creating strategies and plans for initiatives. Being proactive and possessing a strong can-do attitude are critical to success in this role.
  • Broad knowledge of solar industry trends a plus.
  • Past experience interfacing with senior executives of large corporate customers.

Remuneration will be strongly linked to performance, in particular the ability to originate and manage new institutional clients sourced through new business development initiatives as well as from our existing industry network. We are looking for an independently driven individual but will provide substantial support in achieving your goals.
