Maintenance Technician/Manager

Position is open for an energetic, organized professional with an aptitude to work in a renewable energy company in a highly entrepreneurial environment. The Field Service Technician will report to the VP of Asset Management and provide diagnostic, troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance services to residential, commercial and utility-scale PV system. The Field Service Technician will be asked to assist in the commissioning of the solar array and monitoring systems during project installation. The ideal candidate has significant experience and understanding in the design and installation of PV systems. We are looking to hire someone who can help develop and grow our maintenance program.


  • Performing required preventive maintenance activities on inverters to maintain warranty coverage
  • Responding to corrective maintenance cases on both commercial and utility PV systems - includes troubleshooting, testing, repairing activities and updating online case logs accurately
  • Working safely and in accordance with industry standard safety requirements
  • Report writing, where required, to comply with deliverables in commercial O&M contracts
  • Working closely with members of Asset Management team to respond to open case directions and provide data where requested
  • Prioritizing conflicting work requests and escalations
  • Supporting the ongoing development and improvement of the Nautilus Solar’s O&M team
  • Provide advanced technical support for photovoltaic systems to customers
  • Work with the team to create and establish an operations and maintenance department (Service and Warranty)
  • Create maintenance schedule for the team to follow that ensures contractual obligations are met yet is flexible in its ability to re-prioritize when needed.
  • Meet with the customers after commission and walk thru to provide over view of the system, warranties, and service and monitoring
  • Streamline and organize multiple projects by creating standard operating procedures, construction to O&M transition checklists, maintenance schedules, and customer outreach materials.
  • Create detailed documentation for replacement and warrantied equipment.
  • Implement strategies to foster coordination between departments and significantly improve response time for repairs and maintenance.


  • Extensive hands-on experience maintaining, and troubleshooting PV systems with central, string, micro inverters
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal); particularly in a customer-facing environment
  • NABCEP Certification required
  • Journeyman Electrician’s card or equivalent required to perform electrical work in the NJ, NY, MA
  • Greater trades experience in roofing or electrical a plus
  • Have a minimum of five years of PV installation and/or maintenance experience
  • Proficiency in installing all types of grid-tied inverters & able to work with various ground and roof mount racking systems
  • Understanding of the NEC codes that relate to PV installations
  • Must be very organized and be able to meet aggressive timelines
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, lift 100 pounds, and must be able to work on your feet for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in extreme environments, e.g. hot sun, below freezing, crawl spaces, etc.
  • Must be comfortable working with spreadsheets, word processing, and computer-based applications (e.g. time tracking, case management, etc)
  • Comfortable making decisions independently and handling emergency situations with a calm and directed manner
  • Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
